Erling Haaland overtakes Lionel Messi as Manchester City’s no.1 transfer target

An insight into the transfer plans of Manchester City have been provided this weekend.
Aguero departs
Sergio Aguero is set to depart Manchester this summer, a decade after joining the Sky Blues from Atletico Madrid.
The Argentine, despite his recent injury layoff, has been an integral part of City’s success in recent years, acting as one of the star men throughout Pep Guardiola’s tenure.
So, upon Aguero’s departure, the Citizens will only have Gabriel Jesus as a natural centre-forward option, and even he is often used out wide.
Therefore, it hasn’t come as much of a surprise to see City linked with some attackers in recent weeks.
Man City eyeing Haaland over Messi
Two of the names linked have been Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, with The Times having revealed that the Manchester giants will look to Tottenham’s star man if they are unable to land Haaland:

And whilst Haaland is of course a huge talent, who would improve any side he joins, Man City’s fans may be somewhat surprised to hear what the Mirror have reported this weekend.
The English outlet claim that the Norwegian has now overtaken Lionel Messi as the club’s no.1 transfer target.
It is added that City want the Dortmund hitman as a direct replacement for Aguero, despite Pep Guardiola’s recent claim that the Sky Blues will not break the bank for the 20-year-old.
