Chelsea transfer target tipped to shine in Premier League

A Chelsea target has been backed to impress in the Premier League.

As 101 covered on Sunday, Chelsea star Thiago Silva has confirmed his hope that Paulo Dybala will ultimately make his way to West London this summer.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, stopper Silva was drawn on the prospect of linking up with Dybala at Stamford Bridge and he said: “I’ve asked Paulo Dybala if it’s true that he’s coming to Chelsea but he didn’t answer! He’s a top player, he’d be a massive signing for us — I’d like it”

However, Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on Dybala to Chelsea and it does not look as though there is anything too serious in those links right now:

“Despite Thiago Silva’s public comments about Paulo Dybala, I’m still told there’s nothing advanced on a potential move to Chelsea,” Romano said.

“We will see in the next weeks, but, for sure, Roma hope to keep him as Jose Mourinho considers Dybala a crucial player for the project.

“I think Dybala can succeed in the Premier League or indeed everywhere as he’s a top player; but he needs to feel “important” in his club, and that’s what Roma are giving him.”

Dybala scored 18 and assisted eight for AS Roma in all competitions last season. Should he move to Chelsea, he would likely face heavy competition for a place in the XI from new signing, Christopher Nkunku.
