Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion have reached an agreement for the signing of a new defender, according to reports.
It is of course common knowledge that the powers that be at the Amex Stadium have set their sights on reinforcements at the back with a view to the new season.
The Seagulls’ first-choice target, for some time, came in the form of Levi Colwill.
Chelsea starlet Colwill spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan on the south coast, shining on his way to earning a reputation as one of England’s next best stoppers.
After the Chelsea brass made clear that they had absolutely no intention of parting with the 20-year-old on a permanent basis, however, Brighton were forced to turn their attentions elsewhere.
And, as alluded to above, on Friday, such endeavours have borne fruit.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Brighton have reached an agreement with their counterparts at Serie A outfit Fiorentina, over the signing of Igor.
This comes after the Seagulls agreed to fork over a sum of €17 million, plus add-ons, to bring the Brazilian to the Amex.
With Igor himself having already signed off on the terms of a four-year contract, he will soon fly out to England, ahead of becoming the latest addition to Roberto De Zerbi’s up-and-coming squad.
