Arsenal’s two-man striker shortlist revealed

Arsenal want to add a new striker to their ranks during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal currently have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah on their books as natural centre-forwards.

But with Jesus having been sidelined for several months until recently, the no.9 role fell solely on Nketiah and he has not scored too many goals this campaign, perhaps leading Arsenal to the conclusion that they need more depth up front ahead of next season.

Jesus, meanwhile, has recently returned to action and scored a handful of goals since doing so.

However, as he showed on Sunday vs West Ham, Jesus is not exactly the type of striker you need when your are chasing a goal and need someone who will sit in the box and dominate defenders.

So, it is not too surprising to see Arsenal targeting a different type of no.9 in the summer transfer window.

As per Football Insider, the Gunners are being pushed by Mikel Arteta to sign a new striker this summer and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has been highlighted as the club’s first-choice target, while Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also on Arsenal’s shortlist.
