Arsenal handed chance to sign ‘best midfielder in world’ for £26m

Arsenal could sign a top midfielder for a bargain price this summer.

The player being looked at is Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Arsenal will be looking to pick themselves up a bargain with the 28-year-old out of contract next summer and thus likely available for less than he would normally be.

Milinkovic-Savic joined current team Lazio in 2015 from Belgian outfit Genk for €12m.

He has since featured over 300 times for the Italian outfit. In said games, he has scored 69 goals and provided 59 assists, including 11 goals and 8 assists so far this term.

Milinkovic-Savic has also previously been dubbed the best midfielder in the world.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito president told Il Messaggero in November 2022: “Guess how much he’s worth – he scored a goal at the World Cup with his ankle injured, and he’s the best midfielder in the world.”

Now, according to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio president Claudio Lolito is likely to cash in on SMS this summer and he is looking for £35m to sell the 28-year-old but it will be a success if he gets £22-26m.

The report goes on to explain that the player’s agent will re-establish contacts with interested clubs, Arsenal in particular.
