‘Around £50m’: Transfer expert speaks out on Chelsea target

An update on one of Chelsea’s summer targets has been provided.

Chelsea, along with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United, have all been linked with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia of late.

However, with Liverpool having already signed two midfielders this summer and Arsenal expected to wrap up Declan Rice’s transfer to go along with Kai Havertz, you would assume those sides are less focused on the Belgian.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are close to getting their Mason Mount deal across the line and are expected to have little money left over for other signings.

So, whilst not confirmed, it is probably safe to assume Chelsea are one of the favourites to complete the Lavia signing, especially as they have already lost Matteo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer.

And now, Fabrizio Romano has spoken out on Chelsea’s links to the Saints midfielder:

“There’s no further news on Romeo Lavia yet; Chelsea links are normal as director Joe Shields had Lavia at Southampton and City, but it’s still not time for advanced talks now,” Romano said.
