Liverpool midfield legend and former Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard could be prime to receive immediate summer reinforcement in the wake of taking up his new post with Saudi Arabain outfit Al-Ettifaq as Faris Ad-Dahna targets French striker Moussa Dembélé.
The promoted Saudi outfit intends to compete with the biggest sides in the Roshn Saudi League, with an ongoing interest in Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson another example of the Gulf kingdom’s summer push for some of the biggest names across Europe.
Gerrard, who signed on to terms with the Dammam-based club ten days ago, has already seen the club push for big-name acquisitions akin to what has been seen at Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ahli.
As things stand, Dembélé is on the summer transfer shortlist at Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium after the club has been in contact with the player’s agent, though the former Olympique Lyonnais, Glasgow Celtic, and Fulham frontman is still considering a number of proposals both in Saudi Arabia as well as Europe.
Dembélé recently ran down the final year of his deal at Groupama Stadium after what was a poor 2022-23 Ligue 1 campaign that saw him bag just 3 goals across 23 league appearances, in stark contrast to the 21 goals in 2021-22.
