Serie A giants AC Milan look to make the most of their capital gains in the wake of selling Italian international Sandro Tonali with a probable move for Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

The 24-year-old versatile Kaaskoppen midfielder was a key central figure under Pascal Jansen in 2022-23, directly contributing ten Eredivisie goals while also helping AZ reach the semi-finals of the Europa Conference league before being ousted by West Ham United in the semifinals.

According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, Reijnders is one of Milan’s chief summer priorities in the transfer market as the club looks to retool the midfield at the San Siro, having already secured a ~£14m move for Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and have submitted a fresh €20m (~£17m) bid plus add-ons for the Zwolle-born midfielder.

Though a slight difference in fee remains between the two clubs, Milan remains confident that they can eventually strike terms with the Eredivisie outfit for one of their top performers, which would see the club complete its second sale of the summer after the departure of central defender Sam Beukema.

Milan is also working hard to complete a move for United States international star Christian Pulisic as well as remaining linked to compatriot Yunus Musah across a busy summer that also saw the Italian institution add Argentine youth international Luka Romero on a free move from Lazio, as well as shot-stopper Marco Sportello – also on a free – from Atalanta.
