21-year-old Argentine midfielder on radar of Arsenal

Arsenal have been linked with a central midfielder over the weekend, which will no doubt please fans given the club’s lack of depth in that area.

Most Gunners supporters would likely agree that their club currently need to strengthen in two key areas. These are at centre-forward and in central midfield.

Whilst both issues will need to be addressed in 2022, it has become obvious of late that the latter represents the more pressing of the two.

Mohamed Elneny is out of contract in north London at the end of this season.

Elsewhere, the Gunners have loaned Ainsley-Maitland Niles to AS Roma for the remainder of the campaign, and his future at the club does not look particularly bright.

The latter of that trio, meanwhile, has proven time and time again that he is a reckless individual that cannot be relied upon when it really counts.

Arsenal eye Enzo Fernandez

In turn, now, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes (as cited by football.london), River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez has popped up on the radar of all of Premier League sides Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

Fernandez made his way through River Plate’s youth system, and after spending a season out on loan in 2020/21, is now featuring for his parent club on a regular basis.

He has scored two goals and assisted four more in 28 outings for River to date.

The 21-year-old would also receive a call-up to the Argentinian national team at the back end of 2021, albeit with Fernandez yet to make his debut for the country.
