Tottenham lose Serge Aurier to injury before Liverpool

Tottenham’s Serge Aurier is injured

The international break hasn’t been kind to Tottenham so far.

On Friday night at Wembley, Mauricio Pochettino saw midfielder Eric Dier go off hurt.

Dier has since been released by the England squad to start his rehab with his club.

It’s unclear whether Dier will be fit for Tottenham’s match at Liverpool at the end of the month.

Spurs suffered a second injury blow on Saturday.

Serge Aurier was handed the honour of captaining the Ivory Coast in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda.

The Ivory Coast won the match 3-0, however Aurier went off injured in the first half.

Aurier & hamstring fears

After 30 minutes of the Rwanda match, Aurier was subbed out the game.

The Tottenham full-back was replaced by Metz midfielder Victorien Angban.

Aurier appeared to suffered a muscle injury in the AFCON qualifier.

There are fears that Aurier pulled a hamstring, which could sideline the Ivorian for two to three weeks.

If Aurier is unavailable against Liverpool, Pochettino does have alternative options.

Kieran Trippier was always likely to start against the Reds anyhow, while Kyle Walker-Peters could feature on the bench.

Liverpool vs Tottenham

When the international break comes to an end, Liverpool restart their Premier League title hopes with a match against Tottenham.

The match is scheduled for Sunday March 31.

Liverpool could be knocked off of first place by the time the Anfield match comes around, while Spurs are in a fight for a top four finish.

Tottenham, after collecting one point in four games, are just four points clear of Chelsea in sixth.
