Manchester United’s hopes of landing Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong have been afforded a boost, according to reports.
Dutch youth international Frimpong, of course, has seen his name take its place front and centre in the media headlines across the season to date.
This comes as the 22-year-old continues to play a starring role for Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leveruksen, in the Bundesliga.
All told, across the term to date, Frimpong, from his right-back berth, has racked up a head-turning eight goals and nine assists.

Such stellar exploits, inevitably, have piqued the attentions of a number of European football’s biggest clubs, with all of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United understood to hold a keen interest in the former Celtic man.
And, if the latest word stemming from Germany late on Friday is anything to go by, then one of this trio appear to hold a clear edge in the race for Frimpong’s signature.
As per a report from the reliable BILD, United’s interest in Frimpong has existed for several months now.
Even more significant, though, is the fact that the defender himself is understood to view Old Trafford as his ideal landing spot.
Frimpong spent much of his youth living in Manchester, and grew to ‘love’ the area whilst on the books of Man City.
A summer offer in the region of €50 million, in turn, would likely prove enough to take the Dutchman to United, where he would be afforded the chance to work under fellow countryman Erik ten Hag.
