Real Madrid’s stance on signing Cristiano Ronaldo in January revealed

An insight into the alleged stance of Spanish champions Real Madrid when it comes to the potential return of Cristiano Ronaldo has been revealed late on Sunday.

For those who may somehow have missed it, veteran attacker Ronaldo dropped nothing short of a bombshell on not only Manchester United, but a host of individuals associated with the club, too, last weekend.

In comments provided during an interview with presenter Piers Morgan, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner slammed the Red Devils, boss Erik ten Hag, club icon Wayne Rooney, and more.

The key takeaway, though, came in the form of Ronaldo essentially signalling his intent to depart once more, in revealing that he has been left feeling ‘betrayed’ by the club he loves.

Speculation, in turn, has since been rampant across the media, regarding where exactly the Portuguese could end up next.

This comes amid the widespread assumption that Ronaldo will indeed be on the move, with the powers that be at Old Trafford desperate to get the wantaway hitman off their books.

One such potential landing spot touted for CR7 in the media over recent days, meanwhile, comes in the form of Real Madrid.

After news of Karim Benzema being ruled out of France’s World Cup defence came to the fore on Saturday, amid an injury-plagued campaign to date, it was quickly reported that a Ronaldo reunion could be on the cards in the Spanish capital following the turn of the year.

Such a prospect, however, has this evening been firmly shut down.

As per journalist Jose Felix Diaz, regarded as reliable when it comes to ongoings at the Bernabeu, Florentino Perez and co. have no intention of signing either Ronaldo, or any other striker, during the January transfer window.
