Rangers dealt hammer injury blow ahead of 2nd half of season

Scottish giants Rangers have, on Saturday, been dealt a serious blow on the personnel front.

The Gers star in line for a spell on the sidelines? Steven Davis.

Midfielder Davis has continued to play an important role on the blue half of Glasgow across the opening half of the season.

Despite now being 37 years of age, he has been afforded 15 appearances across all competitions.

In turn, it came as a source of concern when, during a recent meeting with Hibernian, the Northern Ireland international suffered a knee injury, the extent of which had since remained unclear.

Late on Saturday, though, as much has been revealed.

And the news, unfortunately for those of a Rangers persuasion, has proven less than positive.

As per an official statement released across the Light Blues’ website and social media platforms a short time ago, the club’s captain has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, owing to a knee injury:

‘Rangers can this afternoon confirm that midfielder Steven Davis has suffered an injury to his knee and will miss the remainder of this season.

‘As always Steven has the best wishes of everyone at Ibrox as he embarks upon his recovery.’
