Official: Neymar to miss up to 4 weeks with thigh injury

PSG have this evening provided an update on the fitness of Neymar, after the world’s most expensive player picked up an injury during Brazil’s meeting with Nigeria.

Brazil 1-1 Nigeria

Tite’s men went head-to-head with the Super Eagles yesterday afternoon, at the Singapore National Stadium.

Brazil headed into the clash aiming to put a disappointing recent string of results behind them.

The Selecao were winless in their last 3 outings, versus Colombia, Peru and Senegal respectively.

When the 90 minutes were said and done in Singapore, though, the South American champions’ winless streak stretched to 4 games.

Nigeria took the lead with 35 minutes on the clock, after a brilliant piece of individual work from Rangers star Joe Aribo.

Casemiro then pulled Brazil level shortly after the interval, but, despite dominating possession, the Selecao failed to find an all-important winner over the remaining half-hour.

Neymar crocked

Result aside, meanwhile, another concern for Tite’s outfit yesterday afternoon came on the personnel front.

With just over 10 minutes gone, talisman Neymar pulled up with a problem, before eventually limping off to be replaced by Philippe Coutinho.

As such, panic no doubt quickly set in at the Brazilian’s club, Ligue 1 champions PSG.

The capital giants fought tooth and nail to keep Neymar at the Parc des Princes over the summer, amid heavy interest from former club Barcelona.

As such, PSG’s fans, squad and hierarchy alike are no doubt counting on the world’s most expensive player to drive their pursuit of long-awaited European glory this season.

But, after already missing a month of action between August and September, Neymar has today once again been ruled out for an extended period.

PSG provided an official update on the fitness of their star man a short time ago.

Neymar has been diagnosed with a thigh injury, which could see him miss 4 weeks of action:

‘Neymar Jr: had an MRI this afternoon which confirms a grade 2 lesion of the left ischiosis-tibial femoral biceps. A medical point on the evolution will be redone in 8 days. But the deadline to return to competition is evaluated at 4 weeks depending on the evolution.’
