Mousa Dembele and the lost treasure
In perhaps the most bizarre story of the day (one that sounds like a Belgian children’s book), Spurs midfielder, Mousa Dembele has stumbled across some 18th century “treasure”.
The 30 year old is one of the Premier League’s best midfielders and has been instrumental in Tottenham’s first team for the past few years.
Dembele was one of the Premier League’s best midfielders last season and whilst battling injury so far this term, when he has played, he has been outstanding.
Tottenham have won their last two games rather convincingly against Stoke and Brighton but things have got even better for Dembele.
Dembele and his sister, Assita, own a hotel in Antwerp, Belgium.
The hotel building is actually two buildings merged together, both built in around 1400.
Archeologists carried out research inside the hotel a couple of years ago and found “treasure in the cellar” according to VRT.
City Archeologist Tim Bellens stated:
Behind a wall in the basement we found a closed volume full of porcelain, glass, ceramics, table decoration and plaster sculptures from the 18th century
That happened by chance because the space did not appear on the building plan
Since the discovery of the “treasure”, all the items have been processed.
Some of the items will remain in the hotel lobby whereas others will go to a depot of the city.
