A fresh insight into the interest of Arsenal in the signature of Manchester City star Joao Cancelo has been provided on Sunday evening.
Surprise speculation linking full-back Cancelo with a move to north London, of course, has been widespread across the media of late.
This comes amid suggestions that the Portuguese has been identified as a leading target on the part of Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
Cancelo was farmed out on loan during the January transfer window, making the move to Germany to link up with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
With the board at the Allianz Arena having since failed to commit to making his arrival permanent, however, the future of the 29-year-old has been thrown firmly back up in the air.

The door, in turn, has been opened for Arsenal, keen to add proven talent to the club’s defensive ranks ahead of next season.
And, as alluded to above, late on Sunday, a fresh insight into the interest of the north Londoners in Cancelo has been provided.
The info comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has reiterated that Mikel Arteta and co. are indeed keen.
Contacts between the two parties regarding a potential transfer have therefore been initiated, with it significantly also noted that the powers that be at The Emirates ‘have a very good relationship’ with the representatives of the former Juventus and Inter Milan man.
