‘I know people hate when I mention’: Jurgen Klopp explains why Liverpool win over West Ham was ‘massive’

Jurgen Klopp has been discussing why Liverpool’s win over West Ham was a huge result.

Liverpool faced off with West Ham on Wednesday evening in a Premier League clash.

The Reds took a 1-0 lead 22 minutes in via Darwin Nunez and went on to dominate the rest of the first half.

However, Liverpool could not find a second and their display dropped off in the second 45.

Alisson also had to come to Liverpool’s rescue by saving a penalty. But in the end, Liverpool were able to hold out for the three points.

Liverpool are now 7th in the league and just four points off 4th.

Following the match, Jurgen Klopp has explained why the win was massive, pointing toward his favourite subject, the wind:

“I know people hate when I mention the wind but it makes a football game really tricky. The ball is in the air and you could see a few moments when this long diagonal ball, everybody expected Trent to get the ball, in the last seconds the ball gets a little push and it goes wide.

“And then there’s the one-v-one situation with Benrahma who is obviously a pretty good dribbler. In these situations it can happen.

“That’s why you should keep the ball on the ground and control it and that’s what we have to do. We have space for improvement, that’s clear. It was always the case and tonight is the case.

“But in this moment we have three points more than before and that feels massive.”
