How Atlanta United trolled Inter Miami and Lionel Messi after MLS clash

The social media team at Major League Soccer outfit Inter Miami took full use of the opportunity to poke some lighthearted fun at Inter Miami and Lionel Messi earlier today.

This, for those who may have missed it, comes after the meeting between the two sides on Saturday night.

Amid an ongoing push towards the Eastern Conference playoff spots, rampant Inter made the trip to the Mercedez-Benz Stadium 24 hours ago, eyeing a 12th win from 13 across all competitions.

When all was said and done, however, the Herons were brought firmly back down to earth.

This came as goals on the part of all of Tristan Muyumba, Kamal Miller (OG), Brooks Lennon, Giorgos Giakoumakis, and Tyler Wolff guided Atlanta to the right side of a 5-2 result.

Inter’s sudden struggles, though, in their defence, came with a key member of Tata Martino’s squad unavailable for selection.

The player in question? Lionel Messi.

Owing to a fitness concern picked up whilst on international duty with Argentina, veteran attacker Messi was not risked on Saturday night.

And yet, as alluded to above, Atalanta were nevertheless keen to have some fun at the expense of their defeated opponents.
