Fewest wins in a Premier League season

A number of sides have failed to win even a handful of Premier League matches across a season.

The majority of Premier League campaigns see even the poorest teams pick up 7-8 wins as a worst-case scenario.

However, every now and again there comes along a side who simply cannot pick up three points to save their lives.

And now, 101GreatGoals have put together a list of the sides with the fewest wins in a Premier League season.

5 wins

First up, there are a number of teams who were able to pick up just five wins across a Premier League campaign.

The first team to do so was Bradford City in 2000/01. This was followed by Leicester City in 2001/02, Watford in 2006/07, Wolves in 2011/12, Norwich in 2019/20 and both West Brom and Norwich in 2020/21.

4 wins

Next sees two sides picking up a dismal 4 wins across a 38-game campaign. The first team to do this was Sunderland back in 2002/03. They finished dead bottom of the division with just 19 points.

QPR were the only other side to win just 4 games in one season, doing so 10 years after Sunderland.

3 wins

Sunderland make it onto the list for a second time and are the only team to do so. They won just three games in 2005/06, once again finishing dead bottom of the league but this time with a dismal 15 points.

Huddersfield also won just three matches in 2018/19, earning one more point than Sunderland in their campaign.

1 win

A record that is unlikely to be ever matched again. Derby County won one game across all of 2007/08.

This led to the Rams racking up the lowest points total in Premier League history with 11.
