Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka names his toughest opponent

Arsenal and England starlet Bukayo Saka has named his toughest opponent in a recent interview.

Despite only being 20 years of age Saka has already notched a staggering 123 appearances for the Gunners.

In that time he has scored 21, assisted 27 and faced off with some of the world’s best players.

Now, Saka has moved to reveal which player has been his toughest opponent. And, as per the man himself, that person is FC Barcelona and Spain star, Sergio Busquets:  “The way [Busquets] just so elegantly turned me!

“I came at him to press him, I tried to fake this side then go to the other, and the way he just embarrassed me: I was just like, yeah, this guy is elite.

“The way he just took me out of the play, I said, ‘Respect.’ He is three steps ahead of everyone and that’s what makes you a top footballer. That’s what I realised that day.”

When did Saka play against Sergio Busquets?

Given Arsenal have not been in the Champions League for many years, you may be wondering when the two actually faced off.

Well, the Gunners played Barcelona in a preseason fixture during the summer of 2019, when Saka was just 17.

The Englishman had made his first-team debut the previous season and joined the squad – then under Unai Emery – as they travelled to the Nou Camp for the Joan Gamper Trophy exhibition match against the Catalan giants.
