New York Red Bulls vs New York City match preview
This inaugural edition of the expanded Leagues Cup has produced a tasty Hudson River Derby in the first knockout round.
These two teams have met 25 times since first doing so in 2015 with, to date, the Red Bulls claiming 14 victories to NYCFC’s eight.
New York City did win both MLS meetings in 2022 but, back in May, Omir Fernandez was the only scorer in a victory for RBNY.

In the Leagues Cup group phase, New York Red Bulls topped their group with five points, first beating New England Revolution on penalties, following a goalless draw.
Then, at the weekend, Dante Vanzeir’s brace downed Atlético San Luis 2-1 in Harrison, as Troy Lesesne’s team snatched first place in their section in stoppage time.
Maxime Chanot, Monsef Bakrar, Santiago Rodríguez and Andres Jasson all scoring.
