Lille will be aiming to carry on their excellent run of form in French football since the return after the World Cup with the 2020/21 Ligue 1 champions avoiding since late December with Nice up next.
Nice come into this game off the back of a positive run of form themselves. Although they dropped points in an away trip against Reims, the club hammered Montpellier 6-1 in a league outing just prior.
Nice are now up into 10th still and sit behind Lille by eight points and off the top five by 12 points. It does now seem as if a spot in Europe next campaign is too much to ask for, especially if they lose here.
Lille head into this one with two wins in a row, having beaten Troyes 5-1 and Pau in the French Cup round of 32. The club also beat Troyes in the round of 64 French Cup, while beating Clermont Foot and drawing with Brest and Reims in Ligue 1 since the World Cup.
Lille themselves will be eyeing up a spot back in Europe, especially if Jonathan David can carry on his excellent run of goalscoring form.
