Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to build on an impressive win over Fleetwood Town last time out as Darren Moore’s men look to reignite their hopes of winning League One before the end of 2022 with a meeting against Port Vale at Hillsborough.
Wednesday beat Fleetwood 2-1 last time out, as George Byers netted another goal. Marvin Johnson was the difference in the end with a goal in the 73rd minute to win the match for the Owls.
Moore’s men are now sitting third in the table still and behind Ipswich Town in second by just two points. They are also only four behind Plymouth Argyle in first place, as all three in the top three have lost three games. Wednesday have the best defensive record, however, letting in just 18 goals.
As for Vale, Gavin Massey netted another goal in the 1-0 win over Morecambe on Boxing Day to throw them further into the top half of the table.
The club are now in ninth and level on points with Peterborough United and three behind the playoff spots.
