Manchester United have completed the signing of teenage defender Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno.
The 18-year-old Paraguay Under-20 international has officially completed a £3.3million move agreed in January.
A left-sided defender Leon made 33 appearances for the Paraguayan club and could not officially make the move to Old Trafford until he turned 18, which he now has.
“I’m really happy, I think every player dreams of this,” Leon told Versus ahead of moving to Manchester.
“When you’re a professional, you have to adapt quickly, it is a massive opportunity.
“Everyone thinks I’ll go out on loan, but I don’t have that mindset.
“I’m going to kill it in pre-season and within one or two games, I’ll already be playing with them.”
We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Diego Leon, subject to registration.
Welcome to United! 🇵🇾❤️🔥

Manchester United plan to assess new signing Leon following his arrival at Carrington, with the young left-back initially expected to link up with the U21 squad.
However, the teenager could be fast-tracked into the senior setup if he adapts quickly to his new surroundings.
Leon will face competition for minutes from established first-team left-back Patrick Dorgu, veteran Luke Shaw, and fellow youngster Harry Amass.
The youngster becomes United’s second signing of the summer after moving for Matheus Cunha for £62m from Wolves.
They are also in taks to sign forward Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford but face competition from Tottenham for the Cameroonian forward.
