Manchester United: Alex Ferguson taken to hospital before Liverpool clash

Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson was taken to hospital after feeling unwell shortly before their Premier League game with Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Ferguson was transported to hospital by an ambulance in what was reported to be a precautionary move, not an emergency. There have been no further updates on his condition.

The 84-year-old, who won 38 major trophies across 27 years as United boss, watches their games from the directors’ box.

Ferguson was left seriously ill by a brain haemorrhage in May 2018, with the Scot undergoing emergency surgery. He returned to Old Trafford to attend his first game since his recovery that September.

United officials are said to be optimistic that Ferguson will be well enough to return home in the near future.
