Casemiro’s next club revealed after leaving Manchester United – but league opens investigation into tampering claims

Casemiro has joined Major League Soccer side Inter Miami following his departure from Manchester United.

The Brazilian midfielder left the Red Devils upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, ending a four-year spell at Old Trafford which saw him make 111 Premier League appearances and lift the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Having just returned from representing Brazil at the World Cup, the ex-Real Madrid star has now opted for a switch to MLS, where he will link up with Lionel Messi in the United States.

The former Manchester United star was officially unveiled by Miami on Wednesday after agreeing a deal through to the end of the 2027 MLS season, with the option to extend his stay until June 2029.

Casemiro joins Inter Miami.. but MLS investigate transfer

However, shortly after confirming the transfer, MLS released a statement revealing it had opened a review into a potential breach of league rules.

“The league is gathering all relevant information and will refrain from further comment until the review is complete,” the statement read.

MLS also confirmed that although Inter Miami and LA Galaxy had reached an agreement over Casemiro’s discovery rights, the details of that arrangement would not be disclosed until the investigation had concluded.

The probe centres on MLS’ discovery rights system, which allows clubs to claim priority over players who are not currently in the league.

Each MLS side can place up to five players on its discovery list at any one time, giving them the first opportunity to negotiate if one of those players decides to move to the United States.

LA Galaxy held Casemiro’s discovery rights before Inter Miami completed a deal to acquire them, paving the way for the experienced midfielder’s arrival in Florida.
