Former England interim boss Lee Carsley has signed a new two-year contract with the Football Association.
Carsley is highly regarded within the FA having guided the Under-21s to the European Championship title in 2023. That led to him being placed in temporary charge of the senior team last autumn before Thomas Tuchel took over.

The 51-year-old former Everton midfielder’s immediate task is to lead the Under-21s as they look to defend their European crown in Slovakia this summer.
Carsley said: “I’m delighted to extend my time with the FA. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to work with a young, talented group and help develop them on the international stage.
“While the future is exciting, our immediate priority is this summer’s UEFA U21 Euros in Slovakia as we attempt to emulate the achievement of Dave Sexton’s teams in 1982 and 1984.”
Carsley’s new deal runs until the conclusion of the 2027 European Under-21 Championship in Albania.
