Wigan are strong favourites for a reason with them being the home side and Bristol on a losing streak. We are backing this to continue here, along with a few match goals in the process.
Bristol conceded within five minutes last time out then hit back before the fifteen-minute mark. It would come as no surprise if this game followed a similar pattern.
The Latics have enjoyed a decent start to life back in the second tier, gaining two points from their opening two games against Preston and Norwich respectively. However, fans will be expecting Leam Richardson to add more to the squad between now and the end of the window with only Nathan Broadhead joining on a season-long loan from Everton along with Ryan Nyambe on a free transfer being the only additions so far.
Wigan do have some Championship experience within their ranks though with the likes of James McClean and Max Power being vastly experienced at second-tier level. The home side goes into this one as heavy favourites, with bookies pricing Wigan at 23/20 to take all three points.
Bristol City, on the other hand, have endured a torrid start to the season losing both their two matches so far away to Hull and at home to Sunderland. While Pearson’s men look dangerous going forward, their defensive work leaves a lot to be desired, with all three of the goals conceded last weekend being poor from a Bristol perspective.
Additions to the squad are very much needed between now and the end of August if they are to turn the ship around, but finances seem to be an issue for the club, with all four of their signings so far coming in on free transfers. Unsurprisingly, they go into this clash as second favourites with odds of 23/10, which is the same price as you will get for backing the draw.
