West Bromwich Albion vs Swansea City match preview

Two sides eyeing their first win of the Championship season are set to lock horns at The Hawthorns on Saturday, August 12th.

The matchup in question will see West Bromwich Albion act as hosts, in a meeting with Swansea City.

Beginning with the former, West Brom saw their early-season hopes of kicking on towards the promotion playoff battle dealt a blow, courtesy of defeat at the hands of Blackburn Rovers.

After making the trip to Ewood Park, the Baggies found themselves in a two-goal hole inside the opening 25 minutes.

And though Matt Phillips did manage to pull one back early in the 2nd-half, the comeback efforts of Carlos Corberan’s troops ultimately fell short, en route to a 2-1 final scoreline.

Safe to say, then, that a 2nd defeat on the spin on Saturday afternoon would set alarm bells ringing in England’s west Midlands.

Hopeful of condemning their upcoming hosts to precisely that, though, will of course be the aforementioned Swansea City.

Like West Brom, Swansea saw their opening day pursuit of a three-point haul come up short.

Michael Duff’s men, though, did at least manage to secure a share of the spoils.

The Welsh giants were tasked with a meeting with Birmingham City at the Liberty Stadium, and fell behind on the stroke of the interval, upon Siriki Dembele bending home a fine finish from the edge of the area.

But Swansea soon battled their way back to level terms, as summer addition Jerry Yates’ first goal in the club’s colours proved enough for a point.

So, who do we at 101 view as favourites to emerge on the right side of the result at The Hawthorns on Saturday?

Though Swansea should certainly not be ruled out, we are backing West Brom to ultimately get the job done, courtesy of a bounce-back triumph.
