Match preview

Two sides vying it out for a spot in the promotion playoffs are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at The Hawthorns this Saturday, April 1st.

The matchup in question will see West Bromwich Albion act as hosts, in a meeting with Millwall.

Beginning with the former, West Brom currently find themselves on the outside looking in at the top-six in England’s 2nd tier.

After looking as though they had perhaps run out of steam at just the wrong time, though, three wins from their last five mean that the Baggies’ hopes of a return to the top-flight remain very much alive.

And one such outfit just so happens to come in the form of West Brom’s upcoming hosts this weekend.

Millwall, for their part, were brought back down to earth with a thud last time out.

After recovering from a damaging defeat at the hands of playoff rivals Norwich City by way of successive downings of Reading and Swansea City, Gary Rowett’s troops, just shy of two weeks ago, welcomed relegation-battling Huddersfield Town to The Den, confident in their chances of making it three wins on the spin.

When all was said and done in east London, however, a solitary strike on the part of Danny Ward proved enough to condemn the Lions to a shock 1-0 defeat.

Their position inside the top-six, as a result, has become a precarious one once more, with Millwall now sitting just three points clear of the chasing pack.

Not only that, but, should West Brom ultimately condemn them to a 2nd successive loss on Saturday, then they themselves will close to within a point of the Lions, having played a game less.

And though Carlos Corberan’s hosts are the current favourites with the bookmakers to manage exactly that, we at 101 envision Millwall doing enough to ultimately emerge from The Hawthorns with a hard-earned share of the spoils.
