West Bromwich Albion vs Huddersfield Town match preview

Two sides in the midst of altogether contrasting spells of early-season form are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at The Hawthorns this Saturday, September 2nd.

The matchup in question will see West Bromwich Albion act as hosts, in a meeting with Huddersfield Town.

Beginning with the former, West Brom, since an opening day defeat at the hands of Blackburn Rovers, have bounced back in impressive fashion.

Victory over Swansea City was followed by a credible point on the road at Leeds United, before, last time out, the Baggies played host to struggling Middlesbrough.

And Carlos Corberan’s troops ultimately went on to make it seven points from nine, thanking goals from Cedric Kipre, John Swift, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Jeremy Sarmiento for an eventual 4-2 triumph.

Such efforts, all told, leave West Brom 7th in the table in England’s 2nd tier, just two points off the early promotion playoff pace.

This comes with the upcoming visitors to The Hawthorns having endured an altogether less fruitful time of things of late.

All told, across their four outings to date in the Championship season, Huddersfield have managed to put a paltry one point on the board.

A 1-1 stalemate with Middlesbrough aside, Neil Warnock’s troops have been condemned to the wrong side of the scoreline on a trio of occasions, most recently last weekend.

This came in alarming fashion, too, when Norwich City racked up four goals without reply at the John Smith’s Stadium.

After narrowly fighting off the drop last season, Huddersfield, in turn, find themselves 2nd from bottom in the table, in possession of a league-worst -7 goal difference.

And we at 101 do not envision things getting all that much better for the Yorkshire outfit this afternoon, backing hosts West Brom to ultimately emerge from proceedings as comfortable victors.
