Watford vs Queens Park Rangers match preview

A Watford outfit prepping for life without a number of key performers are primed to kick their Championship endeavours for 2023/24 into gear this Saturday afternoon, in a meeting with Queens Park Rangers.

The subject of departures, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines at Vicarage Road across the summer to date.

This comes with the Watford hierarchy having sanctioned the sales of star attackers Joao Pedro and Ismaila Sarr.

Their ensuing efforts to replace the pair have not exactly inspired confidence, either, with Tom Ince and Rhys Healey altogether unlikely to replicate the output produced by two players of such high calibre.

Boss Valerien Ismael, in turn, will certainly have his work cut out in guiding the Hornets away from the depths of mid-table, and back into the thick of the playoff picture this season.

Turning attentions towards the upcoming visitors to Vicarage Road, Queens Park Rangers, too, were forced to bid farewell to a key member of the club’s first-team setup already this summer.

The Hoops have since replaced their former no.1 with the experienced Asmir Begovic, with Jack Colback having also been brought in as one of five free agent additions to Gareth Ainsworth’s squad.

All told, though, it has proven a summer of stagnancy at Loftus Road, with another season of ups and downs likely in store for the QPR faithful.

We at 101 are therefore backing hosts Watford to ultimately emerge from Saturday’s season opener on the right side of a comfortable victory.
