Watford vs Huddersfield Town match preview

Two sides in the midst of altogether contrasting spells of form are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Vicarage Road this Friday, April 4th.

The matchup in question will see Watford act as hosts, in a meeting with Huddersfield Town.

Beginning with the former, Watford have found consistency altogether difficult to come by over the course of the last couple of months.

In fact, dating back to late February, the Hornets have managed just a solitary victory from their last six attempts.

This stretch also includes a trio of defeats, including, most concerningly, at the hands of struggling Queens Park Rangers.

Last time out, meanwhile, in their post-international break return to action, Chris Wilder’s troops were made short work of by Luton Town.

And, despite the lowly position of their upcoming opponents in the standings, securing a bounce-back result on Friday, in truth, is also unlikely to prove a straightforward endeavour for Watford.

This comes with Huddersfield, for their part, fresh off a morale-boosting pair of results.

First, in their final outing leading into the international break, Neil Warnock’s men got the better of Millwall at The Den.

Then, last time out, another of the Championship’s promotion-chasing sides fell victim to the resurgent Terriers.

After welcoming rampant Middlesbrough to the John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield recovered from a first-half deficit to eventually emerge on the right side of a 4-2 scoreline.

Such efforts have seen Warnock and co. surge back into contention for safety, now sitting inside the bottom three only by way of goal difference.

We at 101, as a result, find Friday’s Vicarage Road showdown something of a tough one to call.

Whilst, based on quality and league position, it is of course Watford who should be viewed as favourites, do not be at all surprised if a resurgent Huddersfield ultimately emerge from the action with at least a point to show for their efforts.
