Watford vs Blackburn Rovers match preview

Two sides with identical records to this point in the campaign are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Vicarage Road this Sunday, August 27th.

The matchup in question will see Watford act as hosts, in a meeting with Blackburn Rovers.

Beginning with the former, Watford, after a scintillating start to the term, have since found positive results altogether more difficult to come by.

On opening day, the Hornets made short work of Queens Park Rangers, racking up four goals inside the first-half en route to an eventual 4-0 triumph.

This, however, was followed by an EFL Cup exit at the hands of Stevenage, before Valerien Ismael’s troops were held to a goalless stalemate by Plymouth Argyle in their return to league action.

Then, last weekend, Watford made the trip to the Bet365 Stadium, for a meeting with Stoke City.

And locked on points with their upcoming opponents, as alluded to above, are Blackburn Rovers.

This comes with Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side having, too, notched an opening day victory, since followed by a draw, and defeat.

In their first fixture of the new term, Blackburn got the better of West Brom, thanking an early double for an eventual 2-1 win.

A late comeback then saw Rovers battle their way to a share of the spoils at Rotherham, before, last time out, they welcomed Hull City to Ewood Park.

And though Tomasson and co. defied the odds in taking the lead despite Harry Pickering’s dismissal just 15 minutes in, a late Aaron Connolly brace ultimately proved decisive, in guiding visitors Hull to all three points.

So, all of this taken into consideration, how do we at 101 envision Sunday’s action playing out at Vicarage Road?

Though hosts Watford are considered comfortable favourites with the bookmakers, we would not be at all surprised to see the spoils eventually shared, come the full-time whistle later today.
