Stoke City vs Preston North End match preview

A Stoke City outfit with sights set on a bounce-back result are set to act as hosts, in a Championship meeting with Preston North End at the bet365 Stadium this Saturday, August 2nd.

The Potters, for their part, have endured an altogether hit-and-miss opening to the new campaign.

All told, Alex Neil’s troops have racked up six points from 12, courtesy of two wins, and two defeats.

After recovering from defeat at high-flying Ipswich Town by way of a slender victory over Watford, Stoke, most recently, made the trip to The Den, eyeing a 2nd three-point haul on the spin at the expense of Millwall.

When all was said and done, however, once more, the Potters were condemned to the wrong side of a hard-fought result.

And yet, confidence may well be high in the camp at the Bet365 heading into the latest round of fixtures.

Turning attentions towards Saturday’s visitors, Preston, for their part, will too enter the upcoming Championship gameweek with spirits high across the board.

The Lilywhites have enjoyed a superb start to the Championship term, racking up 10 points from an available 12, on their way to an early spot in the playoff places.

After being held to an opening day draw by Bristol City, Ryan Lowe’s men have since managed a trio of successive victories, all by a solitary goal.

The most recent came last weekend, in a meeting with Swansea City at Deepdale.

After falling behind late in the first-half, Preston came roaring back after the break, ultimately downing Swansea by two goals to one through strikes from Andrew Hughes and Duane Holmes.

So, all of this considered, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action unfolding at the bet365 Stadium?

Preston, for obvious reasons, should be viewed as favourites to ultimately emerge with all three points.

We would not be at all surprised, though, to see hosts Stoke battle their way to a first draw of the season later this evening.
