Match preview

Two sides fresh off altogether contrasting weekend results are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at The Bet365 Stadium on Tuesday, November 8th.

The matchup in question will see a Stoke City outfit battling against the drop play host to a Luton Town side with sights on the promotion playoff spots.

Beginning with the former, Stoke have endured an altogether difficult go of things of late.

After looking as though they had gotten things firmly back on track courtesy of seven points from an available nine early last month, the Potters have since slipped into an alarming slump.

All told, Alex Neil’s troops have now slipped to defeat in four of their last five outings, the latest of which came this past Saturday.

A home meeting with Birmingham City saw Lewis Baker inspire hope of a potential comeback with a converted spot-kick fifteen minutes from time, but, upon the final whistle bringing a close to proceedings, it proved to be little more than a consolation en route to a 2-1 defeat.

Stoke, in turn, have fallen to 19th in the Championship table.

Not only that, but, should they ultimately be put to the sword for the fifth time in six attempts on Tuesday, then the Potters could find themselves in the bottom three heading into the weekend.

Hopeful of condemning Alex Neil and co. to precisely that, though, will be a Luton Town side in altogether more positive form.

Though the Hatters have not exactly set the world alight of late, all told, they have emerged on the wrong side of the result in just one of the club’s last 11 outings.

On the back of a pair of back-to-back draws, Nathan Jones’ men secured a return to winning ways over the weekend, too, courtesy of a hard-fought downing of Blackpool.

Luke Berry’s finish early in the 2nd-half of action proved enough to steer the visitors to a 1-0 triumph at Bloomfield Road.

Luton, in turn, have climbed back up to 8th, just two points off the top-six.

Backing the Hatters to ultimately emerge victorious for the 2nd time in the space of four days therefore looks the safe bet when it comes to Tuesday’s upcoming clash at The Bet365 Stadium.
