Wednesday’s solitary Championship fixture is set to play out at Bramall Lane, when Sheffield United play host to West Bromwich Albion in a highly-anticipated clash.

Beginning with the former, Sheffield United currently find themselves in the midst of a solid stretch of form.

Though they were sent packing from the FA Cup in deserved fashion at the hands of Manchester City over the weekend, on the league front, the Blades have emerged triumphant from five of their last six.

Most recently, a home meeting with Bristol City saw a late finish on the part of James McAtee prove enough to guide Paul Heckingbottom’s troops to the right side of a 1-0 result.

Such efforts mean that United remain four points clear of the automatic promotion-chasing pack, whilst in possession of two games in hand.

Another victory on Wednesday, in turn, would see Heckingbottom and co. guaranteed of Premier League status for the 2023/24 campaign.

The Baggies were dealt a damaging defeat over the weekend, by way of promotion rivals Sunderland.

After John Swift handed Carlos Corberan’s troops the advantage from the penalty spot late in the first-half, Sunderland came roaring back on the other side of the interval, thanking a Dennis Cirkin brace for an eventual 2-1 win.

This brought to an end a two-game win streak for West Brom.

More importantly, though, it also saw the club’s hopes of a top-six finish come the season’s close dealt a blow.

The Baggies now sit in 9th spot in the Championship table, two points off the playoff pace, whilst in possession of a game in hand, of course, at Bramall Lane.

Safe to say, then, that Wednesday’s showdown in south Yorkshire marks a crucial one for the evening’s visitors.

We at 101, though, are nevertheless backing Sheffield United, just, to get the best of West Brom come the full-time whistle.
