Preston North End vs Swansea City match preview

Two sides fresh off altogether contrasting starts to the new season are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Deepdale this Saturday, August 26th.

The matchup in question will see Preston North End act as hosts, in a meeting with Swansea City.

Beginning with the former, Preston, for their part, have enjoyed a fruitful start to the 2023/24 term.

Across their three outings to date, the Lilywhites have racked up seven points, owing to a record of two wins and a draw.

On opening day, Ryan Lowe’s troops battled their way to a share of the spoils at Bristol City.

This was followed by a hard-fought 2-1 downing of Sunderland, before, last time out, Preston made the trip to Hillsborough, for a showdown with newly-promoted Sheffield Wednesday.

Such efforts leave Saturday’s hosts sitting 7th in the Championship table, albeit adrift of 3rd only by way of goal difference.

And Preston will no doubt be confident in their chances of kicking on ever further up the table courtesy of a 3rd successive triumph later today.

This comes with upcoming opponents Swansea having endured an altogether less productive go of things over the early weeks of the season.

The Welsh giants, thus far, have pieced together just two points from nine.

This comes with Michael Duff’s men yet to get off the mark in the win column.

After battling their way to an opening day draw with Birmingham City, Swansea, despite a spirited late comeback effort, were condemned to a first defeat of the campaign in gameweek two, at West Bromwich Albion.

The Swans then had summer addition Jerry Yates to thank for a credible point last weekend, when Coventry City were held to a 1-1 stalemate at the Liberty Stadium.

Today’s visitors to Deepdale, in turn, find themselves in a lowly 18th in the standings.

And yet, though Preston should for obvious reasons be considered the favourites to ultimately emerge from proceedings triumphant later today, we at 101 would not be at all surprised to see Swansea battle their way to a third draw in four in Lancashire.
