Preston North End vs Plymouth Argyle match preview

A Preston North End outfit hopeful of returning to the summit of the table are set to act as hosts, in a Championship meeting with Plymouth Argyle this Saturday, September 16th.

The Lilywhites, of course, have proven one of the standout performers of the season to date in England’s 2nd tier.

After missing out on a place in the promotion playoffs last time out owing to a dismal close to the campaign, Ryan Lowe’s troops have since bounced back in stellar fashion.

All told, across their five league outings to date, Preston have notched four wins and a draw.

Not only that, but all four of these victories have come over the course of the last four gameweeks, after the Lilywhites were held to an opening day stalemate by Bristol City.

Most recently, in the club’s final outing ahead of the international break, a brace on the part of summer arrival Will Keane proved enough to put Stoke City to the sword by two goals to nil.

Turning attentions towards Preston’s upcoming opponents, Plymouth Argyle, on the other hand, have endured more of a hit-and-miss term to date.

The Pilgrims, all told, have managed a pair of wins, pair of defeats, and a draw from five outings.

After slipping to a trio of successive losses across all competitions, though, Steven Schumacher and co. did bounce back in impressive fashion last time out.

This came by way of a home meeting with Blackburn Rovers.

Owing to goals on the part of all of Finn Isaac Azaz, Ryan Hardie, and Luke Cundle, Plymouth ultimately emerged on the right side of a head-turning 3-0 result.

Such endeavours leave Saturday’s visitors to Deepdale sitting comfortably in 10th in the Championship standings.

We at 101, though, envision Plymouth being brought firmly back down to earth this afternoon, backing hosts Preston to get the job done on their way back to league-leading status.
