Match preview

Two sides in the midst of identical spells of recent form are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Carrow Road on Saturday, November 12th.

The matchup in question will see a Norwich City outfit chasing promotion host to a Middlesbrough side battling against the drop.

Starting with the former, on the back of an alarming, and altogether unexpected slide down the table in England’s 2nd tier, Norwich have managed to get things back on track over the course of the last couple of weeks.

All told, since a hard-fought defeat at the hands of table-topping Burnley late last month, the Canaries have racked up seven points from an available nine.

Last time out, a trip to the New York Stadium to take on Rotherham saw Dean Smith’s troops emerge on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline, courtesy of goals from Kenny McLean and in-form teenage talent Aaron Ramsey.

Norwich, in turn, have climbed back up to 4th in the table, four points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.

Upcoming opponents Middlesbrough, though, have too enjoyed a timely upturn in fortunes of late.

So recently condemned to the depths of the bottom-three, Michael Carrick has turned things around in altogether commendable fashion, since being installed on the bench at the Riverside Stadium late last month.

Coincidentally, Boro’s last five outings have given rise to the exact same series of outcomes as their upcoming hosts, in the form of a draw, defeat, win, draw, and win.

The Yorkshire outfit’s most recent triumph proved perhaps their most impressive of the campaign to date, courtesy of a 3-0 downing of relegation rivals Blackpool.

Goals on the part of all of Isaiah Jones, Marcus Forss and top scorer Chuba Akpom guided Middlesbrough to not only a 2nd win in three, but also a full four points clear of the bottom three.

Backing Carrick and co. to ultimately emerge from Carrow Road with a share of the spoils on Saturday, in turn, would not be at all unreasonable.

We at 101, though, envision hosts Norwich doing just enough to put the in-form Boro to the sword, kicking on towards the Championship’s top-2 in the process.
