Middlesbrough vs Queens Park Rangers match preview

Two sides desperate for victory are set to lock horns in a highly-anticipated early-season clash at the Riverside Stadium this Saturday, September 2nd.

The matchup in question will see Middlesbrough act as hosts, in a meeting with Queens Park Rangers.

Beginning with the former, Middlesbrough, as fans of the Yorkshire-based club will be all too aware, have endured nothing short of a nightmare start to the new campaign.

After surprising the masses in battling their way to a promotion playoff berth last season, Michael Carrick’s troops have since failed to rediscover their brilliant best in any way, shape or form.

All told, Boro have notched just a solitary point from an available 12 thus far.

This came courtesy of a 1-1 stalemate at home to Huddersfield Town two weeks ago, since followed by a third defeat in four, on this occasion at the hands of West Bromwich Albion.

And yet, Middlesbrough could well fancy their chances of getting things back on track later today.

This comes with upcoming opponents Queens Park Rangers having not exactly set the world alight across their own early-season endeavours.

The Hoops, too, have been condemned to the wrong side of the scoreline in three of their four fixtures to date.

Gareth Ainsworth’s side do, though, boast three points to Boro’s one, owing to a 2-1 triumph at Cardiff City on matchday 2.

Since, a trio of defeats across all competitions have followed, albeit, in defence of QPR, at the hands of high-flying trio Norwich City, Southampton, and Ipswich Town.

Nevertheless, the capital club sit in a lowly 19th in the table, two points clear of the bottom three.

So, all of this considered, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action playing out at the Riverside Stadium?

Despite Middlesbrough’s heavy favourite status with the bookmakers, we are backing an eventual sharing of the spoils come the full-time whistle in north Yorkshire.
