Middlesbrough vs Millwall match preview

A Middlesbrough outfit hopeful of going one better in the club’s push for a return to the top-flight of English football are set to kick the 2023/24 campaign into gear at the Riverside Stadium this Saturday, August 5th.

This comes as Michael Carrick’s troops prepare to play host to Millwall.

Boro, of course, proved themselves one of the headline stories of The Championship season last time out, battling back from a nightmare start to ultimately establish themselves as legitimate promotion contenders.

And though the club’s efforts, when all was said and done, were brought to an end at the playoff semi-final stage, the foundation has certainly been built for another successful term to come.

Since active on the transfer market, too, could this prove the year that sees Middlesbrough’s long-awaited Premier League return at long last confirmed?

Hopeful of putting an early dent in such ambitions, of course, will be the aforementioned Millwall.

Boss Gary Rowett will be depending on incoming signings Kevin Nisbet and Casper De Norre to make a difference this time round, whilst Joe Bryan’s free agent arrival could also prove itself to be a clever piece of business.

Could the Lions do enough to spring a surprise on their upcoming Riverside hosts, though?

Though we at 101 view an away victory as unlikely, with Chuba Akpom and Jonny Howson expected to miss out for Boro, an eventual sharing of the spoils looks far from out of the question at the Riverside on Saturday afternoon.
