Middlesbrough vs Hull City match preview

A Middlesbrough outfit fresh off a morale-boosting return to winning ways are set to act as hosts in a Championship meeting with Hull City this Wednesday, April 19th.

Leading into this past weekend, Middlesbrough had seen a hugely disappointing stretch of form all but end the club’s automatic promotion hopes.

After being put to the sword by Huddersfield and Burnley in successive outings, Michael Carrick’s troops followed up with a 2-2 stalemate with struggling Bristol City.

This haul of just a single point from nine culminated in Boro slipping to 4th in the table, now a full 11 points adrift of 2nd-placed Sheffield United.

And yet, as alluded to above, tonight’s Riverside Stadium hosts will nevertheless head into proceedings with confidence high in the camp.

This comes after a scintillating bounce-back display over the weekend saw the Yorkshire-based club run riot, en route to an eventual 5-1 drubbing of fellow promotion hopefuls Norwich City.

This comes with the Tigers, dating back to early March, having been condemned to defeat in just one of their last eight.

Not only that, but Liam Rosenior’s men followed up an impressive downing of Millwall last week with another solid result this past Saturday.

After making the trip to Ewood Park for a meeting with top-six-chasing Blackburn Rovers, Hull held their own, to eventually emerge with a hard-fought share of the spoils.

Such efforts, all told, have seen the Tigers put to bed any and all relegation concerns, now sitting 16th, a full 11 points clear of the bottom three.

And though hosts Middlesbrough, for obvious reasons, should be viewed as favourites to ultimately emerge triumphant later this evening, we at 101 would therefore not be at all surprised if Hull manage to battle their way to another well-deserved point at the Riverside.
