Championship basement boys Coventry City will be hopeful of getting what has proven a dismal campaign to date up and running on Wednesday, when they make the trip to England’s southeast for a showdown with Luton Town.

After the weekend’s fixture list was cancelled owing to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, six outings are in line to play out on September 13th, followed by the same number 24 hours later.

One such clash comes in the form of the aforementioned Coventry’s latest opportunity to get off the mark in the win column. The Sky Blues represent the English 2nd division’s most off colour side at present, having secured just a solitary point across the season’s early going.

It should be noted that Mark Robins’ men have only played out five fixtures, though, with the vast majority of the Championship’s clubs already eight games deep.

Their upcoming hosts, meanwhile, have not exactly set the world alight to this point themselves. Luton currently sit 18th in the table, just a solitary point clear of the drop zone.

The Hatters appeared to be on the up after racking up seven points from an available nine in their prior three outings, but were brought crashing back down to earth in a home defeat at the hands of Wigan last time out.

Nevertheless, we’re backing Luton to ultimately prove too much for a struggling Coventry in midweek.
