Leicester City vs Cardiff City match preview

Two sides fresh off altogether contrasting starts to the Championship campaign are set to lock horns at the King Power Stadium this Saturday, August 19th.

The matchup in question will see Leicester City act as hosts, in a meeting with Cardiff City.

Beginning with the former, Leicester’s early efforts to secure a swift return to the top-flight of English football, of course, have been kicked into gear in ideal fashion.

This comes with the Foxes standing as one of just two Championship clubs with a perfect two wins from two on the board.

Enzo Maresca’s troops kicked their season into gear courtesy of a 2-1 downing of Coventry City, before sending Burton Albion packing from the EFL Cup.

Then, last weekend, Leicester kept their flawless start to the term alive in Yorkshire, thanking Stephy Mavididi for an eventual 1-0 downing of Huddersfield Town.

Turning attentions towards Saturday’s visitors to the King Power, Cardiff, as alluded to above, have endured an altogether less fruitful start to the 2023/24 term.

The Bluebirds, on opening day, were tasked with a tricky trip to Leeds United.

And though they managed to surge out to a two-goal lead inside 40 minutes, in the end, Erol Bulut’s men were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.

Cardiff, in turn, were no doubt happy to see a Queens Park Rangers outfit fresh off a four-goal drubbing at Watford make their way to southeast Wales last weekend.

A concerning display, however, ultimately saw the capital outfit put to the sword, by two goals to one.

So, all of this considered, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action at the King Power Stadium unfolding?

For obvious reasons, we are backing hosts Leicester to ultimately emerge on the right side of what will likely prove a one-sided result.
