Ipswich Town vs Stoke City match preview

Two sides fresh off fine opening day results are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Portman Road this Saturday, August 12th.

The matchup in question will see Ipswich Town act as hosts, in a meeting with Stoke City.

Beginning with the former, Ipswich, for their part, were responsible for one of the headline results of the weekend last time out.

This came as the Blues, in their first outing back in England’s 2nd tier, made the trip to the Stadium of Light, for a daunting meeting with Sunderland.

And, despite being penned in for much of the 90 minutes, Kieran McKenna’s troops ultimately battled their way to all three points.

Nathan Broadhead and George Hirst were on target either side of the interval, ensuring that Dan Neil’s late strike proved little more than a consolation come the full-time whistle.

Could Ipswich, in turn, make it two wins from two later today?

As much will likely prove a tough result to come by, with upcoming opponents Stoke brimming with confidence, on the back of a stellar opening day showing of their own.

The Potters kicked their campaign into gear in a meeting with Rotherham United at The Bet365 Stadium.

And, safe to say, Alex Neil’s side got things up and running in style, thanking goals from all of Ki-Jana Hoever, Andre Vidigal (2) and Jacob Brown for an eventual 4-1 triumph.

Stoke, in turn, find themselves sitting pretty in 2nd in the Championship table ahead of the upcoming slate of fixtures.

So, who are we at 101 backing to emerge on the right side of the result at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon?

Whilst hosts Ipswich are regarded as favourites with the bookmakers, we view an eventual sharing of the spoils as the most likely outcome.
