Ipswich Town vs Leeds United match preview

Two sides fresh off altogether contrasting starts to the new season are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Portman Road this Saturday, August 26th.

The matchup in question will see Ipswich Town act as hosts, in a meeting with Leeds United.

Beginning with the former, Ipswich, of course, have enjoyed a stellar return to the 2nd tier of English football to date.

The Tractor Boys currently find themselves sitting pretty on top of the table, as one of just two clubs to have emerged victorious from all three of the club’s outings thus far.

An opening day downing of Sunderland was followed by victory in the opening round of the EFL Cup, before Kieran McKenna’s troops put Stoke City to the sword by two goals to nil, too.

Then, last time out, a trip to Queens Park Rangers saw Ipswich make it a perfect four wins from four across all competitions.

Saturday’s hosts, in turn, will likely head into proceedings confident in their chances of maintaining their spot atop the table.

This comes with upcoming opponents Leeds having endured an altogether less productive start to the term.

In their own return to the 2nd division, the Whites are yet to get a win on the board, thanks in no small part to an ongoing outflux of key performers.

A 1-0 defeat at the hands of Birmingham City followed a 2-2 stalemate with Cardiff on opening day, before Daniel Farke’s men, last weekend, welcomed West Bromwich Albion to Elland Road.

And though they went on to dominate when it came to both possession and chances created, in the end, Leeds were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, in a 1-1 stalemate.

West Brom’s Brandon Thomas-Asante was first on target in west Yorkshire, before Luke Ayling bagged a decisive equaliser inside the closing 20 minutes.

The Peacocks, as a result, find themselves in a lowly 19th in the Championship table.

So, all of this considered, how do we at 101 envision Saturday’s action playing out at Portman Road?

Though Leeds, on their day, are capable of putting it up to just about anyone in the division, it is hard to look past Ipswich as the likely eventual victors this afternoon.
