Match preview

Two sides brimming with confidence are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, October 29th.

The matchup in question will see Hull City play host to high-flying Blackburn Rovers.

Let’s first take a look at the recent efforts of the former.

Hull, on the back of a dismal stretch of form between late August and early October, have managed to turn things around in impressive fashion of late.

The Tigers, all told, have notched wins in three of their last five, the latter two of which came on the road over the last fortnight.

After first emerging 3-1 victors over Blackpool, Andy Dawson’s troops followed up with a four-goal haul at Rotherham last time out, courtesy of strikes from all of Jacob Greaves, Cyrus Christie, Ryan Longman and Ozan Tufan.

Not only that, but such fine form comes with star striker and joint-Championship top scorer Oscar Estupinan in the midst of something of a scoring drought.

Hull, in turn, will head into Saturday’s action in the knowledge that a 4th win in six could guide them to the comforts of mid-table in England’s 2nd tier.

Such a result, however, is likely to prove altogether difficult to come by.

This comes with the Tigers’ upcoming opponents flying high in the thick of the battle for promotion, amid a fine spell of form of their own.

Blackburn, at present, sit joint-2nd in the Championship table.

Despite having fallen to more defeats than any other side in the top half (alongside Reading), Rovers’ remarkable record of zero draws from 17 has seen them put a none-too-shabby 30 points on the board.

Recent weeks have proven of a particularly impressive nature, with Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men having rattled off four wins from five since October 8th.

Last time out, meanwhile, goals on the part of Sam Gallagher and Adam Wharton were enough to down a plucky Birmingham City outfit at Ewood Park.

We at 101, in turn, are backing Blackburn to ultimately emerge from the MKM Stadium on Saturday with all three points, a result which could, dependent on developments elsewhere, guide them to the very summit of the Championship table.
