Huddersfield Town vs Sheffield United match preview

A Huddersfield Town outfit absolutely desperate to avoid defeat are set to play host to in-form Sheffield United this Thursday, May 4th.

For those not aware, Huddersfield remain in an altogether precarious position, amid the battle against the drop to League One.

With just one full round of fixtures remaining in England’s 2nd tier, the Terriers sit three points clear of the drop zone.

Not only that, but Neil Warnock’s troops will face off with the outfit sitting directly below – Reading – as part of the final gameweek.

Before then, though, Huddersfield could have their status as a Championship club for next season already secured.

This comes as the Terriers prepare to play host to a Sheffield United side brimming with confidence, with promotion long confirmed, and a four-game win streak in the books.

Last time out, a trip to Wales saw Warnock and co. clinch an absolutely crucial victory, thanking a Joseph Hungbo opener and ensuing Jack Simpson own goal for an eventual 2-1 downing of Cardiff City.

After making short work of West Bromwich Albion, meanwhile, Sheffield United followed up with a 4th victory on the spin at the weekend.

This came as a late blitz saw all of John Fleck, Iliman Ndiaye and Oli McBurnie find the net, en route to a 4-1 drubbing of Preston North End.

It is the Blades, for obvious reasons, who should in turn head into this evening’s action at The John Smith’s Stadium as favourites to ultimately emerge on the right side of the result.

Do not be surprised, though, if hosts Huddersfield defy the odds, to clinch safety with a game to spare courtesy of a share of the spoils.
