The Bluebirds’ indifferent start to the season continued last time out after they lost 2-0 to Bristol City away from home. That means they have lost two, won two and drawn one from their opening five fixtures. However, the patchy form could be put down to the fact is has been a summer of huge overhaul in the Welsh Capital, with 16 new signings coming in and 14 players exiting the club.
Fans may have to be patient with Steve Morison’s side as the new acquisitions settle into life in a Cardiff shirt, but they will have to do it quickly if they are to better last season’s lower-half finish. Owner Vincent Tan also notoriously runs out of patients quickly with his managers, so Morison will need to show signs of progress in the coming months. The home side goes into this one as slight favourites, with bookies piercing them at 6/4 to take all three points.
Preston’s start to the season has been solid but very unspectacular with four draws and one win so far. North End have been active in the transfer window, bringing in six signings, the most notable of which are former Liverpool prospect Ben Woodburn and Robbie Brady who has been impressive at left wing-back thus far.
